Modern Interior design and decoration of the living room. Pictures, ideas and tips

Living room is the first room that your guests see. It is also the room most people spent their relaxation time. Hence it is important to plan well, before decorating the living room. Few points that need to be kept in mind:

1. Creating a right atmosphere

First, you have to decide whether you want your living room to be formal or modern or country style or you want your living room to be a heaven of pure comfort and entertainment. I have posted some of my photos (at the end of this article) of living rooms from all over the world. If you go through those photos, you can see different types of atmospheres created by the living rooms.

2. Creative use of space

Creative use of available space is a skill. Rather than me giving you a lecture about how to be creative with space, please go through my living room photos. I have also given some external links where you can see different designs of living rooms and get inspirations from them.

3. Selecting the right color

Lighter colors are recommended for living rooms as it gives more refreshing looks. Darker colors gives more sophisticated look for the living room, hence not much recommended for a living room.

4. Sofas and sitting

Size of sofas you need depends on the size of the family. For each person in the family you need to count 2 sitting place, so that everyone can sit comfortably and relax in the living room and not like in a movie theater. If you have kids or pets choose a sofa material that is sturdy as well as stylish. Some people combine living room and dining room. There are also designs where kitchen and living rooms are combined due to space limitations. There are also creative ways of doing it. Some people add 'accent chairs' to the living room; these chairs provide a stylistic counter-point to your sofa.

5. Tables

You might want to consider some kind of table where your guests will want a place to put down drinks, magazines or the coffee and snacks. A coffee table is a traditional choice. Depending on the type of atmosphere you would like to have in the living room , there are several designs of sofa tables available.

6. Wall decor

Nobody like bare walls. There are several ways you can decorate your walls. Paintings, picture frames, or wall arts are different options to choose from.
